Each year in February, the Chinese New Year is celebrated in Paris during 2 weeks of festivities with plenty of events such as exhibitions, conferences, shows, operas... held all over the city. Among them are dragons, lions dances, traditional dances and Asian folk dances. Impossible not to know how to spend your days !

Traditional dances

The most famous event is the Chinese new year Parade. Taking place in the 13th district for more than 20 years, the parade gathers about 200 000 people every year.

The 13th district is in some way the "Chinatown" of Paris and reflects quite a few cultures such as Vietnamese, Cambodian, Tibetan and even Indian, Iranian and Mongolian cultures.

Beyond festive happenings, the Chinese New Year is also an opportunity to celebrate the diversity of the city mingling its traditional and contemporary facets.

Some learned to hold chopsticks! (The truth is that you can hold them as you wish)

We ate different Asian dishes, and we walked a lot to follow the parade. At the end, we took a break by drinking Bubble Tea, a discovery for some of us."

On February 2018, the team decided to organize something for the foreign students and introduce them to the parade.  Here is some of what they did :

"We saw the parade in the 13th district (Asian district) and went to a restaurant. There were a lot of people, we almost got separated! Even if it was not a “French” activity, it is still something good to see.
