BRIEF HISTORY OF SCOTLAND

Scottish culture is full of many colorful characters like William Wallace, Mary Queen or Bonnie Prince Charlie. In the past, the country emerged with the Viking attacks and the Norman influence in 1296 in the hands of the British. Despote being under UK influence, Scotlandhas managed to preserve its own culture and traditions.  The country, which maintains its commitment to the UK with the higher rate of no-vote in the independence referendum held in 2014, is starving for independence.

UNIFICATION OF NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES, "THE UNION" AS CALLED BY THE SCOTS

In the sixteenth century, under influence of John Knox, Calvinism became widespread; the movement was supported not only by the establishment of a powerful and centralized kingdom, but by the nobility against the Catholic Church. Mary Stuart merged with them before she escaped to England. After the death of Elizabeth I in 1603, the king of Scotland, James VI Stuart, became king of England, and the two countries were linked by a personal connection at the time. In 1707, Scotland united with England by losing its autonomy, bbut the scots knew how to preserve the authenticity of their country.

                          The Treaty of Union

On the British Island, the two people, the Bristish and the Scots, were confronted in many periods of history. The British struggling to dominate the entire island and the Scottish struggling for independenceled to many bloddy wars. The end of the war was only the Treaty of Union signed in 1707 between the two sides. Great Britain was established by the treaty.

BREXIT

The BREXIT Referendum, which was held in June 2016, began the process of separating the UK with the European Union. In the referendum, since 65% of the people of Scotland have shown a tendency to stay in the European Union, it indicates that the United Kingdom and Scotland have come to an agreementover the "conflict". Will the Scots, who decided to continue with the UK in the Scottish independence referendum in 2014, continue with the United Kingdom, which is preparing to leave the European Union ? The people of Scotland will make the final decision with the second independence referendum scheduled for 2019.
